Two people.
One shared obsession.
We're Thuy and Neal, a husband and wife who fell in love with weddings before we fell in love with each other. Here's our story.
HOW IT STARTED
We met at a
wedding. Naturally.
It was July 2015. We were both shooting the same wedding, separately, and fate apparently thought that was a good enough introduction. We didn't reconnect until August, when we found ourselves at yet another wedding. At that point, we figured the universe was trying to tell us something.
We started shooting together soon after, and what began as a creative partnership became something much more. We got married, adopted a tabby cat named Soba Noodles, and somewhere along the way built a studio that reflects exactly who we are, a little rooted, a little restless, and completely devoted to the couples who trust us with their wedding day.
We've since photographed and filmed weddings across New England and around the world, worked with brands like Facebook, Cartier, NatGeo, and Harvard, and shot on six continents. (Antarctica is still on the list, Neal.)

Why Fern
& Feather?
Honest answer: it came to us on a long car ride. We love those, driving with nowhere specific to be, just talking. When we decided to build the studio together, we wanted a name that was truly ours. Something that actually meant something.
We didn't realize until later just how well it fit.
Roots. Home. New England.
The fern is about where we come from, our love for New England, for nature, for the feeling of belonging somewhere. Ferns represent new growth, the turning of seasons, and deep roots. We're proud homebodies who happen to have wanderlust.
Curiosity. Travel. Growth.
The feather is about where we're going, our hunger to explore new places, new cultures, and new ways of seeing the world. We genuinely believe that the more you learn, the better your work gets. So we never stop learning.
Meet Thuy.
Thuy leads all photography and she has a gift for making people feel completely at ease. She knows when to step in and when to disappear into the background, and that instinct is really what makes her photographs feel the way they do. Couples often say they forgot she was even there. That's the whole idea.
She was born in Vietnam and came to the US at five years old with her parents as refugees. She'll tell you that journey shaped everything about how she sees people, her empathy, her patience, her ability to find something genuine in even the smallest, quietest moments.
She's an avid plant lover who, by her own admission, does not necessarily have a green thumb. At one point they had over 100 house plants. As for the garden, the deer and rabbits have since won that battle.
She was never a cat person, it took Neal over a year to convince her to get one. Now she genuinely cannot imagine life without Soba.
She edits with Scrubs or Doctor Who playing in the background. Every single session, without fail.
Meet Neal.
Neal leads all cinematography and his films feel less like wedding videos and more like something you'd actually want to sit down and watch. He runs multiple cameras, edits with a filmmaker's instinct, and puts together work that's genuinely cinematic.
Outside of weddings, Neal and Thuy do commercial work together for brands like Facebook, Cartier, NatGeo, and Harvard. He brings that same creative ambition to every wedding film, the same attention to story, to pacing, to the moment that makes you feel something. See his commercial work at howlandcreativeco.com.
He's been to every continent except Antarctica. It's on the list, and Thuy has already agreed to go.
Current hobbies include WWII reenactment, 3D printing, RC cars, and film photography. Thuy confirms there are too many hobbies. Neal disagrees.
He has ADHD, something he's open about because mental health awareness genuinely matters to him. It's also, he'll tell you, a real part of his creative process. If your speeches are memorable, he'll be replaying them in his head for weeks.
Two creatives.
One shared vision.
When you book both of us, something genuinely shifts. We've been working side by side for years, so there's a shorthand between us that's hard to explain but really easy to feel on your wedding day. We know each other's movements, we stay out of each other's way, and we're always chasing the same thing. The result is work that feels completely unified because it honestly is.
We've also traveled the world together, which means we move through new places with ease, adapt quickly when things don't go to plan, and bring a calm energy to even the most hectic wedding mornings. That kind of steadiness matters more than people realize, especially on a day when everything is happening at once.
Guatemala, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Spain, Portugal, France, Switzerland, Italy, Morocco, Egypt, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Vietnam, China, and still counting.
South Asian multi-day celebrations, destination weddings, intimate backyard ceremonies — we've loved every single one.
We keep our calendar small so every couple gets our full attention. No rushing, no divided focus, just us, fully present, for you.
Soba Noodles,
our cat.
We genuinely cannot talk about ourselves without talking about Soba. He's a tabby, he's ridiculously adorable, and he is completely and utterly in charge of the household. We didn't plan for him to become such a central part of who we are, but here we are, and honestly we wouldn't have it any other way.
He makes our house feel like a home. Which, if you think about it, is kind of exactly what we try to do for couples on their wedding day. We show up, bring warmth, and make something that feels like it truly belongs to you.
If you want an easy way to bond with us before your wedding, just ask about Soba. We will happily spend the entire call talking about him. Thuy especially.
Find us around
the internet.
We're most active on Instagram, it's where you'll find our latest work, little behind-the-scenes moments from weddings, and honestly more Soba content than is probably necessary. Come say hi.
